In A World…With No Don LaFontaine
The ever present voice of movie trailers, Don LaFontaine, has passed away at the age 68. Mr. LaFontaine’s deep voice was heard in over 5,000 movie trailers in his career. Somehow, trailers just won’t be the same again.

Weekend Review: Invaders from Mars (1953)
We discussed many a film, novel, and obscure historical fact at the 2008 World Science Fiction Convention panel on Mars in Fiction, but we neglected to mention this influential 1950s alien invasion film. Two things separate it from the others of its genre: it was shot in color, and it has been presented from a scared child’s perspective.
No Heroics
The United Kingdom’s ITV will begin airing No Heroics on September 10, 2008. It’s a cheeky anti-Heroes sitcom reminiscent of Mystery Men, Freshmen, and Great Lakes Avengers… If their principal setting were a bar for second-rate metahumans, and the characters made a lot of cheap sex jokes.
