Doubtless everyone here by now has heard that the best evidence yet has been found for the Higgs boson, the so-called “God particle” proposed by six physicists in 1964. If it exists, it would help explain much about the universe, including the fact that other particles have mass.
Of course, many scientists really hate that the media calls it the God Particle— but since it might be a matter of more than one kind of particle, does that mean we’ll have monotheistic and polytheistic Higgs boson theorists?
And for those needing some easy background:
Fools! Don’t they know that if we discover the mass of the higgs-boson particle, the planet will collapse on itself and become about the size of a pea???
Apologies for the self publicity but I wrote a song about the hunt for the Higgs-Boson at CERN. I filmed a performance of it at the old Cambridge sewage pumping station as I didn’t have the budget to go the LHC. It’s all particle physics ;-)
That is crazy awesome.

It’s already been resolved, though it’ll take Google a little while to catch up. There was some sort of wacky WordPress exploit that was taken advantage of, at about 3am today (while I was comfortably sleeping).
