Category: Movies The Oscar nominations were announced earlier today. As usual, genre entertainment makes its strongest showing in the visual effects and sound editing categories. This year's ceremony is on March 5, 2006, and will be hosted by Jon Stewart. The list of nominations is below.

Episode III NOT nominated for visual effects???!!!

Say what you will about the movie, but you can't deny that the effects were absolutely mindblowing. The initial space battle alone was amazing enough to take the prize, let alone the rest of the movie.

I agree. Unfortunately it seems George Lucas has fallen out of favor with the academy. Perhaps it was shades of Episode I.
