Prolific TV producer, Aaron Spelling died June 23rd from a stroke he suffered the previous Sunday. Known for many, many shows, his contributions to genre television included the TV series Charmed and Fantasy Island and the TV movie Day One.
If all he had ever done was give us Love Boat and Fantasy Island, I'd consider him a legend. Saturday night was all about ABC for years during my youth. Fantasy Island (of course) was particularly awesome because it was freakin' magical. I remember fondly the episodes where Mr. Rourke would go really heavy on somebody and scare me out of my mind.
Aaron Spelling made so much "hip" (for its time) TV over so many years that he'll definitely go down as a legend.
