Category: TV Series Unlike the last series named "Kindred," this has nothing to do with vampires. And it's good.

duplicate powers

Well, I guess not every hero will be unique. Now, we have two who can fly and two who can regenerate.

Keep in mind this is Heroes. I'm sure it'll turn out that Kenzo will travel forwards in time with Hiro, where he will end up falling in love with Mrs. Petrelli and end up being Nathan and Peter's real father or something like that.

Inheritance could explain Claire's duped power. However, unless the writers want an incestuous boyfriend for Claire, I think it's just coincidence.

I figured Kensei was the first, and all the others are his descendants.

Also, why did I think Sylar was dead? :-S

I do kind of wonder whats going on there. There has to be a reason that kid has flight powers. At first I was kind of wondering if there was some kind of "Young Nathan" thing going on there, maybe Peter's time travel powers kicked in in a weird way at the end of season 1, but now that just seems too high on the Eww factor for them to pull that.

We haven't seen the duplicates, but the existence of duplicates was implied. Go back to Claude's first meeting with Peter in the first season, and Claude (who used to work for the company, and has seen many more individuals than the audience) immediately classified him according to his power, saying that he'd met and trained others with that power. It's not new to their world, just new to what they've shown us of it.

Poor writing - missed opportunity

I feel the writers really missed an opportunity for some great drama when they dumbed down the scene with Sylar.

It would have been great if they showed us Sylar telling Candice he would be getting his powers back sooner than she thinks END OF SCENE instead of the plodding scene they wrote that leaves nothing to the imagination.

I was also hoping Candice/Michelle would wake up and reveal that Sylar killing her was all a test in his mind, but I'm pretty sure the ticking sound effect meant otherwise. OTOH, her skull didn't look opened, and there was no pool of blood. I know it showed him using a piece of the mug (having lost his psy-blade), but if Sylar must study his victim's brains to learn their power, I'd think he'd have to see more than a little section.

I still think that's what's going on...

Also, with the other new surprise guest actor, I can't wait for Leonard Nimoy to appear as "Sylar in the future" --- it would make nice symmetry with Quinto playing young Spock...

Actually, I'm expecting this to be some elaborate plot by the crew to save some more whales. :)

I was also operating under the assumption that Sylar removed the brains to figure out how to absorb their power. However, after last night's events and thinking back to his flashback episode, I think that Sylar is able to see into their brain and rewire his accordingly. He has been removing the brains to ensure no one else can do the same. No one else that might evolve his power would then be able to reap powers the same way.

He finds the bit that gives them their power and eats it. It's the whole primitive "eating the brains of your enemy to gain their strength" thing.

This better not be building to another Sylar vs Peter climax.

Or an even cheesier "We have to work TOGETHER!!!" thing.

We'll have to see how this goes. I hate the idea of bringing Sylar back so much it will really affect my watching of the show.

They do show however that they've got one thing in common with the comics, though. The total lame-ass bringing back the villian you already thought was done away with. I absolutely hate that crap!!! The prieview for this weeks episode (Sylar's back) almost made me gag.

Oh come now... you can't actually believe that there will be anything OTHER than a big working-together group hug at the end of all this, Can you?

The one thing I have always hated about comics is that nothing ever matters, because the next week/month/year they are just gonna do a time-travel or parallel-universe crap plot and undo anything they want.
I was optimistic when I saw that Hiro have serious consequences from his actions and get discouraged from running a ""do-over"". But once I saw Peter and Syler in the previews... My hopes were dashed.

Now I'm just going to look at this like I do LOST.. Nice eye candy, but not worth thinking about. All they're going to do next week is show you that you didn't know anything this week.

Very dissappointing, actually.

They will never do it, but I thought it would be funny (or at least more to my liking) if Sylar's plot ended in that isolated cabin. Episode 15, say, would have the heroes looking for Some Item in the cottage in the swamp and they find his remains.

We really did not need the Return of Sylar.

If Claire can heal every wound, what's up with her piercing? Does she stabs herself in the ear every time when she remove the jewelry? Man, that's a painful way to look cool!

A piercing would probably heal up around the ring or stud, just like the rest of us except much faster.

But what's up with Peter's new tattoo? Was that his body "healing" it when it disappeared, or is his new girlfriend an agent of the Company and just planted some sort of tracer on him?

I say his body expelled the ink, just like it expelled the bullet and how blood disappears from around his wounds.

I think the larger question is why did the tatoo change into the mysterious symbol before completely fading away.

I think it relates to Jessica and Niki's dual tatoos. I think Peter got more then Jessica's strength in the plaza that day. (It would also explain why he can't remember who he is, and why he almost killed the irish dude.)

Maybe she had the piercing before her ability presented so her body doesn't recognize it as an injury.

See how long it takes us to figure these things out? It's gonna take Sylar, what, 4, 6 episodes to figure that out?

I thought that was a brilliant concept, then I remembered that if Sylar can 'know how things work', he'd already know that detail, wouldn't he?

Not really: He understands, but he doesn't comprehend.

He instinctively knows how to use it (unlike Peter who needed the 9th Doctor to throw him off a roof to get it... and then he forgot), but he needs a demo to know what the power will do. His power lets him know how to get the other powers and use them, but not what the power will be. Else he'd just eat the brains of the victims without ever having to get them to show him their powers first.
This time he missed a crucial part of the explanation, in his gluttonous haste.

True, but healing/regeneration seems to be a "passive" or "autonomic" power - he's never had to figure out how to "switch it on". It 's different using that + another power, versus using two "voluntary" powers, say flying and TKing at the same time. (Not saying he can or can't, just that it's different.)

Well, i dont know about you guys, but at least it seems to me pretty obvious that Peter is gonna go to the dark side, i dont know if deffinetly but think about it , he is way too powerful to be good. How could you beat him? he can use multiple powers at the same time, and he can learn "your" power by simply being around you....
