Also didn't we see some of the current generation of people (season 1) using their powers before the previous eclipse. Such as Nathan accidentally flying out of the car.

I don't want to spoil anything, but in the episode Eclipse Part 1 they make reference to the first time that Nathan flying being the day of the eclipse.

What I'm beginning to hate most about this show is that there is no "character" to any of their characters. Almost every cast member this season has acted (some multiple times) at odds with their established character. And characters that have undergone big changes all seem to revert back to their old ways. Even worse some characters have devolved so badly that their storylines are very hard to even watch....

Sylar's flip flops have been pathetic.
