I like the second movie a little more, as while it's in it's own continuity (it's got some of the elements of the OVAs, like Mihoshi being competent, the Masaki home having it's floating hot springs, and Tenchi having the Wings of the Light Hawk), but adding some elements from the TV series like Kiyone being present.

Anyway, all that said, now that I've seen all 3 movies, one of the things I like about the films that is different from most romantic comedy anime is that in (basically) all of the films Tenchi is the one who needs to be saved by the girls, rather than one of the girls needing to be saved by Tenchi. That's something that doesn't happen often in romantic comedy series.

This is one of my favorite anime movies, even watching it without watching the original OVA it worked really well.
