Big News from Squaresoft
posted November 26 2002, 5:03 am by fiziko

Category: Games (PSX) RPGamer.com isn't the only site to report these, but it's the first site I noticed. In one announcement, we've heard that Squaresoft and Enix will be merging from now until April 1, 2003. In a second announcement, we've learned that the 16-bit revamps of Final Fantasy 1 and Final Fantasy 2 will be available in North America next spring. This will be FF2's first English-language release. (The SNES game marketed as Final Fantasy 2 was actually number 4, and was released in Final Fantasy Chronicles. Review forthcoming.)

I suppose this release will be for the GODDAMN playstation 2. Fuckers! I want these games on my PC already! how hard could it be to port 16 and 32 bit nes and SNES games to PC? aggg! I'm tired of playing these on emulators. I'm playing ff4 right now on zsnes. I can't wait to get to the porn mag ;)

actually, they'll probably be for the Playstation. meaning that you don't NEED an emulator. You'll be able to go pick up a PS1 (not a PSX) from a pawn shop for all of $20.

umm, buy the playstation games when they come out, then download a NES emulator and the roms, and go to town.

or you can prolly pick up a used ps1 for teh cheap on half.com or classifieds somewhere. i should have one to sell soon when i get my ps2 :)

I haven't heard any announcements, but I'm hopeful that we'll see it released. It's my favourite 8-bit FF installment.

I also hope this means that the Dragon Quest/Warrior games will get similar treatment.

From the Article: "In the world of RPGs there are really only two big boys, Square and Enix."

What flavor of crack are they smoking? Seems to me they're overplaying this merger a bit.

This is insane. It's like if the Catholic Church merged with Buddhism to create some ultra-super-religion.
