So, next week is the week of March 15. In Japan, this is White Day, the companion holiday to Valentine’s Day. In Japan, on Valentine’s Day, the girls give the guys chocolate, and on White Day the guys reciprocate. Well, I’m kind of flipping that on its head. On Valentine’s Day I reviewed a romantic comedy created by a guy (Ah! My Goddess). For White Day, I review one created by a woman, and one that could not be more different than Ah! My Goddess. I’m not a huge anime fan, but picked this up due to a combination of a strong reputation and a great deal on the DVD set. (I found it in a clearance sale for $45 Canadian.) Well, by popular demand, it’s now been reviewed.
I’ve previously reviewed Record of Lodoss War, and, since the demise of Central Park Media I’ve called for someone to re-licence it. Finally, at last, my prayers have been answered. Central Park Media News was first to report (with articles from Anime News Network coming later) that at long last, Record of Lodoss War has been saved from Limbo by Media Blasters. This week I’m reviewing the second installment (sort-of, it’s been made non-canon) of the Macross series, appropriately titled, Macross II. Is was it worthy of being affiliated with the Macross universe (albeit having been shuffled out of canon to a sort of ”elseworlds” status), or was its banishment from canon merited? As many other franchises have received in the past, the Halo series is getting an anime compilation DVD – collecting various shorts in the universe – one of these directed by Shinji Aramaki, who directed this movie. So, how good is it (this movie)? Read the rest of this entry »
This week we’ve got the last of the Tenchi Muyo movies. Does the series come to an end on a good note, or does it leave us with a bad taste in our mouths? Read the rest of this entry »
