I plan to have the “War of Kings” reviews caught up, or possibly even done by the end of the long weekend.
The final issue of Marvel’s latest cosmic event hit shelves this week. Two of the tie-in series arcs have yet to finish, and there’s a “War of Kings: Who Will Rule?” one-shot due in September before the full event wrap-up article comes.
The second last issue starts with the (spoiler protected) line “Word of Lilandra’s death comes to us early on what turns out to be the last day of the Kree-Shi’Ar War.” The series then pulls together the elements needed to set the stage for its final chapter.
Marvel is releasing “War of Kings: Warriors” online through their Digital Comics website. The premise of the series is to provide more room for character work with Gladiator, Crystal, Blastaar and Lilandra. The first character’s story is now complete.

I’m not one to profane. In fact, in the course of a year, you could probably count the number of profanities that escape my lips on one hand. It is in this context that I tell you this: War of Kings #4 continues a four issue streak of a last page that causes an audible variation of “Holy excrement!” when I reach it.
The first two issues did well in their reviews. Does issue three continue the trend or start to falter?
Abnett and Lanning could give classes in how to write event comics.
Not every issue in a crossover this size is going to be great. Is this one at least good?
