FLCL Licenced by Funimation

Funimation has announced that they have licenced Gainax’s 6-episode OVA “FLCL” (Furi-Kuri), with plans to the release the series on 1 DVD set and on a Blu-Ray this coming year. This is another series to be rescued from the ruins of Geneon. Read the rest of this entry »

Gurren Lagann is on Hulu

So, previously I’ve reviewed Gurren Lagann. Prior to my review, and to a certain extent, after my review (they’re repeating it) it was also aired on the Sci-Fi Channel’s Ani-Mondays block. Well, now Hulu has is available, in dubbed form, for streaming as well. I have the first episode embedded below the cut. Enjoy!

Evangelion 1.0 Isn’t Elgible For Oscar But Ponyo Is

Anime News Network is reporting that Neon Genesis Evangelion 1.0: You Are (not) Alone, the first film of Gainax’s Eva reset film trilogy is, unfortunately, not eligible for the Academy award for Best Animated Feature. According to the Acadamy’s rules, a foreign film is eligible for nomination for this year’s awards if it first opened outside the US after January 1st, 2008. However, Eva 1.0 opened on September 1st, 2007, and Funimation licensed the film around December. Ponyo, however, is elgible, meeting the requirements for US and Domestic release dates. Weekend Review – Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
