Jake 2.0 Discussion – “Cater Waiter”

We missed the discussion for last week’s episode, but we’ve got
it for this week. We’ll try not to miss them again.

  1. Noticed a trend
Just like Enterprise has its caves, I’ve noticed that Jake has it’s abandoned industrial warehouse.

Oh, as predicted the “I’m about to use my nanite super powers” sound effect is old already. That sort of thing went out with the Six Million Dollar Man, which is what Jake wants to be, I guess. Oooooooo, will there be FemBots??!!??!!

Oh, as predicted the “I’m about to use my nanite super powers” sound effect is old already.

My wife complained about it in the pilot episode. I told her “how else did hollywood expect us to know he was using them” with much sarcasm.

At this rate I may be selling my TV by November.

  2. Since we missed it…

Here’s my thoughts on last week’s episode: not bad, but nearly every single point in the episode was so very predictable that I kind of turned it into a little game to amuse myself. Can I predict what will happen next? You bet I can!

I did, however, chuckle a bit when Jake clocked the bad guy and reused the line about “one in the pipe” from earlier in the ep.

I think the producers of Jake 2.0 are walking a fine line between interesting sci-fi/spy show and cheesy special effects crapfest. But as much as I think it could turn into a good show, I don’t think Ill be watching it much once Angel starts up. Oh sure, I may tape it, but I tend to get so far behind on watching taped episodes that I probably won’t catch up and eventually will lose interest. That’s what happened with 24.

      Two words… Direct TiVo.

TiVo sure would be nice, but it wouldn’t solve my fundamental problem of just not getting around to watching shows I’ve recorded, whether digitally or on tape. Like I said, that happened with 24; I watched the first ep, taped the next five and then realized I was never going to watch them and didn’t care if I did or not.

I mean, it’s not like Jake 2.0 (I hate that title, BTW) is so compelling that I will be driven to stay current with the eps.

Oh well, it has, what, one more week to get me to that point before Angel comes back. Or is this the last week before the Angel premiere?

Jake’s already gone as far as I’m concerned, The West Wing is premiering tonight :)

As for 24, it’s available on DVD and well worth the watching.

As I’m sure you probably know by now, Angel premieres a week from today, October 1st, following the season premiere of Smallville.

  3. Huh? What?

Did I miss it? I swear I watched the episode and I can’t remember
anything about it. Wait, there was something about the Chinese embassy
and some Chinese agent that Kyle the Man was once involved with,
right? But what was the episode about?

I’m officially bored with this show now.

  4. crap
    predictable, cheesy. crap.
I’ve got nothing good to say about it.
The “relationships” are cliche along with the characters, the fights, the “situations”…

I’d rather watch King of Queens, or even Enterprise…

  5. Getting Better
Correct me if I am wrong but it seems to me that the music was much better this episode. They also got rid of the stupid bionic the man noises they had every time he used his nanites. They sort of replaced the sounds with the episode soundtrack. Much better.

On a down note, you don’t go to the hot chick in glasses and tell her you sorta had a date with another girl. Unless they are into that sort of thing. In which case they should be showing that and forget about the whole espionage thing:)

I didn’t think I was going to like this show but I just might.

    • Re: Getting Better

I remember hearing the noise once or twice. It sticks out in my mind because every time I hear it, I think “God, when are they getting rid of that?”

  6. Not that bad
The noice didn’t really both me much this time. I must of tuned it out of my mind.

Overall I didn’t think it was that bad of an epsiode, its starting to remind me of Alias, but with out a super hot chick and the good action scenes :)

  7. To the guy who wanted to watch Odyssey 5…
Check alt.binaries.multimedia.scifi. They’re posting 1×15 right now, and probably finishing the series in the next couple of weeks. Wanted to let you know, I hope you see this. If you have no idea how to download binaries, email me. Alternatively, grab Newsbin from newsbin.com
