As of this article, 2000 stories have been posted to Bureau 42. We were thinking of reviewing 2001: A Space Odyssey in time for the next story, but the movie was already reviewed, and we won’t have time to read the book before tomorrow’s weekly comics discussion. A review of the film version of 2010 will be ready in time for that story. We do this for ourselves as much as we do it for you, so if anybody out there has any requests about what they want to see on this site, let us know below. If you “Read more,” you’ll see some of the plans already in place.

First of all, I should point out that this isn’t a complete list by any means. Some of these have been discussed amongst us all, while others are just things I’m planning on. I’ll let the other guys pitch in if they have their own machinations to promote.

My next book review will be Gardens of the Moon, by Steven Erikson. His publisher sent me a free review copy, and I’m quite enjoying it. I hope to have that review up this weekend. It’s a lot better than that other free review copy I was sent. Once that’s finished, I’ll go back to work on Ringworld Throne and Ringworld’s Children.

As previously mentioned, the review of 2010 will be timed to be story 2010. After that, the next movie reviews I’m planning are The Fifth Element (because it’s the most frequently requested review from this list), and then something cerebral without super heroes, just to give everyone a change of pace from the recent material. (I’m currently thinking of reviewing Fritz Lang’s Metropolis, and then getting back into the request list.) The Star Wars Trilogy (meaning the latest iteration of episodes 4, 5, and 6) will be out on DVD on September 21, so you should be able to expect reviews of those three on the evenings of September 21, 22, and 23. We also plan to post discussion columns opening day for all new genre flicks, unless we know someone can see and review it opening night.

Comic book reviews will focus on the new stuff first, then on catching up on old titles. I’ll get back to work on Essential Avengers Vol. 4 once I’ve got the more pressing reviews complete. I’m going to try and include the titles I’ve ordered in the weekly discussion column the week that the Previews catalog ships out, so you’ll have a good idea about what’s coming.

The next television review should be of the Babylon 5: Movie Collection, which is released today. This fall, I’ll be reviewing Smallville after each new episode, and theangrymob will (presumably) continue to review Enterprise. If there are other new shows you’d like to see reviewed, this is a good place to make that request. I also plan on trying to work through the DVD sets I’ve been collecting to review past material. So far, that includes seasons two and three of Angel (with season four a tempting release on September 7), seasons five and six of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, season one of Dark Angel, the first volume of Futurama, the first season of Land of the Lost, the first two seasons of Smallville, the entire 1967 series of Spider-Man, the first season of Wonder Woman, and the last three seasons of The X-Files. (That’s all I can remember, anyway; I’m at work right now.) I think I may need to look into some sort of DVD collector rehab program. The next textbook review I’ll be working on is Two Person Game Theory. It’s a pretty interesting read, with low demands for the reader’s background level. The next video game reviews will be of the Mega Man Anniversary Collection and Final Fantasy X-2.
